A referendum on governing SSC region: After 15 years, his excellency, Garaad Jama Garaad Ali, arrived in his homeland_ Lasanod, capital city of SSC Khaatumo. The historic reception he received in Lasanod was a first in so many categories; along with the Longest Somali Union Flag in the History of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the crowd size was also the largest in Lasanod and SSC-Khatumo region. Escorted by heavy security guard, Garaad Jama G. Ali, provided Heroic speech in appreciation of his reception and the leadership trust bestowed upon him by the Darwish community of SSC. ” For the fist time in 12 years of Somaliland occupation, the people of Lasanod can now exercise Freedom of expression and the Right to Assembly; these democratic virtues are in full display today in Lasanod. ” We will never agree to outsourcing our sovereignty, this is our Land and our people have spoken today” said the Garaad Jama.
Over the coming few days, along with the 33 member Council on the Sovereignty of SSC regions, the Garaad is expected to join 13 other Khatumo Supreme Traditional Council members who are expected to convene the much anticipated Consultative conference to be held in Lasanod. On the menu is the fate of socio political direction of all the people of SSC.
