In what the young reporter described as a “daily occurrence”, Lasanod civilians are in dire situation. Similarly, some of the Houses burned today belonged to the Former local priest, Sheikh Abdi Nasir (my he Rest In Peace) as he was killed due to his opinions in support of the residents of Lasanod), Graad Jama G. Ismail’s home also received heavy damages today. There are also reports that some of his personal security have been injured. Graad Abdi Karim’s house was also targeted. Ali, their homes all received Somaliland militia’s illegally obtained mortars.
Meanwhile, in a Press Release today, Spokesperson for the 33 member local Consultative Council of lasanod details the gravity of the situation; the threat of imminent danger facing civilians. The people of lasanod are basically sitting ducks; awaiting the disproportionate power of SL missiles falling on their city. Tomorrow is Day No. 17 and it might not be different from the past 16 days of non stop shelling. The world keeps watching mass exodus of 180, 000 people dispersed now in the surrounding villages and towns with desperate living conditions. Total destruction of people and property including the solar panels that powered the local hospital. This is a clear genocide in the making. Despite the Somali President and his Prime Minister Hamza A. Barre both condemning the war in Lasanod, immediate action is required by the international community to force Muse Bihi to withdraw his troops from lasanod.
