Lasanod, Somalia: Somaliland Strikes again at 4:00 AM on a Saturday morning, Shelling Lasanod City with heavy mortars, targetting Kaah Hotel and Safari Restaurants. both building suffered heavy causulties when the missiles hit them. locals staying at Kaah Hotel reported large explosions, killing and injuring civilians. Meanwhile at the Maraaga Intersection on the Eastern side of the city, Somaliland militia convoys waged one their strongest offensives against the Lasanod freedom fighters; both sides suffered heavy losses. Muse Bihi’s Vice president, declared that they will wage war against the Sool Sanaag Cayn people. This comes after the Ethiopian brokered peaceful negotiations failed due to Muse Bihi’s reluctance to withdraw his troops from Lasanod and surroundings.
It was only in 2007 that the Somaliland Militia battled their way into Lasanod, having occupied the pro Union SSC people for the past 15 years. after years of forceful occupation, manipulation and extra judicial killings of at least 120 people, SSC folks decided to join the Federal Government of Somalia via the Lasanod Declaration on Feb. 6, 2023. Secessionist SL insists on forcing the people of lasanod to break away from Somalia and join the Mirage of Nationhood that is separate from the legally recognized FGS.
With worldwide condemnation of hundreds killed, approx. 200,000 SSC folks displaced in neighboring regions, the War crimes committed by the Somaliland Administraion is yet to be formally litigated. Meanwhile, The battle for Lasanod Continues !
