It was day No. 3 and Somaliland’s bombardment of Lasanod continued; loads of heavy weaponry dropped on key institutions including the main Manhal Hospital, water facilities, propane storage garages, Gas stations, schools, and even a mosque was targeted by Somaliland’s long range missiles. Thanks in part to the taxpayers and misguided Somaliland development policies of such counties as UK, Norway, Denmark and more. British trained Rapid Response Units were among the perpetrators of these egregious human rights violations; Far from Western democratic civilizations, only in remote places of this world like North East of Somalia, is this kind of atrocities possible.
Meanwhile, Garaad Jama G. Ali, – leading figures of the Traditional elders in Lasanod indicated that over 50 people have been killed while approximately 130 were injured; among them, young children and moms. “No one is safe in their own homes” said Garaad Jama. Somaliland needs to stop their indiscriminate bombardment of civilians, they need to withdraw their militias from SSC areas, only then can we start our peace talks” added the Garaad. Meanwhile G. Jama G. Ismail, another leading figure of the SSC Leaders in Lasanod responded to Muse Bihi’s of Somaliland’s overtures of Peace talks. ” I am going to keep bombing your cities, and will not withdraw my forces_ is a non starter, said G. Jama G. Ismail.
At the political front, Gathered at the front gates of the Local Hospital, Day 3 also witnessed the resignation of Somaliland’s Mayor of lasanod Abdurahim Ali Ismail and his elected local councilors; speaking to the media, they all declared their disappointment with careless shelling of civilians. talking to the President of Somaliland, “This war is between the Somaliland Militia and SSC Lasanod Civilians” said Abdurahim. The mayor called on the world to intervene and stop this genocide. He also declared along with his councilors the need to join the struggle to free SSC folks in Lasanod.
It is not clear what tomorrow- Day 4 will bring for helpless people of Lasanod.
