Lasanod, Somalia: Saturday Feb. 25th, was a turning point in Lasanod’s blue uprising.
It was a bloody day for residents of Lasanod as the Somaliland army deployed a coordinated attack from four corners; the indiscriminate shelling continued as the battle intensified in the West corner of the city where Local fugitive and Somaliland 7th division commander, Mahad Ambashe began his attack. civilians and SSC liberation folks quickly organized and repelled the SMN militia. Although casualties were high on both sides, There are reports that as many as 45 SSC folks were killed including a young women who worked at the local hospital. It is too early to quantify the precise number Somaliland militia that lost their live due to their aggression. Internet services were disrupted as Mahad Cambashe and his army destroyed the Local Electricity power station. Despite loss of power and water supply, locals prepared for another day of mortars falling on lasanod.
However, As people began to welcome Sunday morning, the sound of mortars seemed distant this time; very little shells falling on mainland lasanod. There are reports that Somaliland army vacated some of their defense position in the outskirts of lasanod. Although locals report that they could also hear sounds of heavy fire exchange around the Goja-Cadde military base. It seems that the rift could be among the various factions of Somaliland army who have been morally defeated. locals media is reporting that Somaliland’s ethnic cleansing project has been a disaster and that they seem to prepare to either retreat or a change in strategy.
Meanwhile, this morning, lasanod is showing dark clouds forming on the horizon; some predict that it may rain today. And since there is almost no shelling of their city, the youth Jamahirta believe this could be a sign of victory for the people of lasanod who endured 20 days of 12 hours of continued bombardment. Over the past 3 weeks, it has been raining mortars here but today, the weather forecast calls for an actual rain_ waterfall badly needed by Life-less Lasanod.
